Why You Need to Be an Impatient Blogger?

A lot of bloggers tell you that you need to be patient, right?

patience

patience

Well, I have done it too. I portrayed impatience as a “bad” thing to have.

Now, I am correcting that mistake.

You don’t need to be patient.

Be patient, if you want.

Note: I thank Holly for leaving a comment on my other post about Patience and inspiring me to write this article :D

There is another side to patience that most bloggers tend to forget about. And in this blog post, we will take a look on that:

Lot of bloggers will tell you that patience is a virtue. And it is, I agree with that. To an extent, patience does play a very important role in our success. But, there is one thing we forget:

When talking about an issue, shouldn’t we look at both sides?

When was the last time someone wrote a post about the pros of being impatient (I really don’t know, since I haven’t read any posts yet. If you have, feel free to share them in the comments :D ).

Well, in this blog post, I have just decided to do that; I will give you a list of Pros – that I think – of being Impatient.

Why You Need to Be Impatient?

Impatience is something that is dissolved in the nature of humans. Yes, we can control patience, by teaching yourself to do so. But, have you considered the advantages of being impatient?

Impatience motivates you to act

Yup, you heard me right: Impatience motivates you to act and strive for more (Well, that also depends upon the situation). Let me give you a simple example:

Imagine that you are blogger and you started working on a new project. You planned to put a lot of effort and time into the project so that you can get great results out of it. But, you don’t get the results that you expected. What will you do?

If you are a blogger who just started out, you are most likely to quit blogging. But, if you are a blogger who knows that blogging needs consistent efforts, you will keep on trying.

In this example, Impatience strengthens your motivation to keep trying. Why? Because you want to see those results. You want to get the most out of what you are doing.

And after you achieve the goals, the same old impatience will motivate you to do more and get even more results.

I will give you a better example, in case if you don’t agree with what I said. But, before that, let’s take a look at the definition of Impatience:

restlessness: a lack of patience; irritation with anything that causes delay.

Highlight the part that says irritation with anything that causes delay. Let me ask you: What would you do if you were waiting for your taxi cab – that you reserved earlier – at the airport and you came to know that your taxi cab will be an hour or two late due to an accident?

Would you wait for that taxi? Well, a very few of us would.

Others would just take a taxi from the airport and go where they want to go (there is a high chance of this happening if you have an important meeting/function to attend or if you are just tired).

How does that fit into blogging?

Like I said earlier, it motivates you to take action. In blogging, motivation plays a very important role. You need to have motivation to start blogging, stay with blogging and try harder to achieve the same goals that you expected to achieve with minimum efforts (realize this: nothing in this world is easy).

Be Impatient. You don’t necessarily need to be patient. Realize that most folks in this world are like you; they are impatient. Only a few folks were patient enough to achieve great things.

But, you don’t need patience. Impatience is enough. If you have the determination to take action :D

Impatience will help you to strengthen your motivation to perform the action (and as I said before, it will even motivate you to go beyond what you were expecting to do).

So, Be Impatient.

Be a Blogger.

Just Blog ;)

Great points Jacob! ACtually, there’s always a good and bad side in almost everything. And this applies to being patient as well. I too, have been impatient at times whenever I blog. By being such, I could sometimes reap the benefits of doing so. But nonetheless, being patient still counts, and I guess it’d be better if we balance them both.

    Ok,

I am getting all googly eyed because I am seeing your posts everywhere… you are the impatient blogger. Impatience does make you do a lot of things; some good some bad, but when it comes to blogging, impatience can actually be a good thing. Imagine all that energy going into writing posts, throwing your post all out in the blogosphere and the impatience to read other posts, to network, to just keep on blogging!

See, we did find a solution to impatience! :)

I like the way you think. It matches my philosophy as well. Don’t just sit back and wait, you must take action and make it happen. I just started a new tech blog last month and I am very inpatient for it to grow and get established.

Ohh yeaaa!! I think I got the right post. I never thought, one could write importance of being impatient. I read your point, and of course, it’s absolutely true. My views are same at that. But one question, What do you think, being impatience have more GOOD than BAD effects?

  6. well, in most case i think people tend to give up what they are doing if they dont get the result expected and they are not patient enough. But what you said above is worth being considered, very good example, Jeevan.

  9. I get the logic. Seems great to me. But being an impatient blogger has its limitations too. When it comes to writing you need to be impatient to carry out tasks on time and be right on schedule. But quality should never be compromised too. Great insights!
