Motivation: Do You Blog Regularly?

Motivation is one subject that I like to blog about again and again. Why? Because I motivated to write about blogging and motivation.

All human actions have a motivation; whether it is to watch TV, buy food, blog about blogging or even cleaning your room. Motivation is the basis of all actions. As I understand it, you will perform better (in an action), if you have a stronger motivation to do so. This blog article will take a look at steps that you can take to get a stronger motivation to blog regularly.

Blogging regularly plays an important role in determining your success with blogging. You need to post articles, market them and network with fellow bloggers consistently. That’s how all popular bloggers became popular.

Back, when I was blogging with other blogs, consistency was a real pain for me. Especially because I had a lot of work for high school. But, now as I am in college, I am more freed up (in terms of time). I did have a lot of interesting experiences. For instance: I didn’t blog at all for an entire summer. But, guess what. I got the most traffic during that summer (the reason was that I had done a lot of work before the summer; If I had blogged and kept up with it during that summer, I would have gotten a lot more subscribers. But, unfortunately, I didn’t).

Towards the end of times with other blogs, my problem was lack of motivation (it was getting harder and harder to get back with blogging since I hadn’t blogged much for many months). The trend followed when I started this blog. But, I was able to get back on track, during last week. I didn’t a lot of work on reading, commenting, writing and submitting guest posts (I am still waiting for them to be published!). Anyways, let’s get back to the post.

Before we get into the subject matter, let’s take a look at few things that you should do (you should have done) first.

Step 1: Identify Your Primary Motivator

Why do you blog? Money? Fun? Popularity?

Well, you only have a limited number of options for primary motivator. Once you identify the primary motivator, move onto the second step.

Step 2: Form Your Own Motivator – Secondary Motivator

Money, Fun and Popularity are all strong motivators. But, as time passes on, these motivators start to loose their strength. So, you also need to form your own motivator – as the secondary motivator. Perhaps you want to be a better writer? Or a better networker? Figure out a secondary motivator for your blogging career. It will turn out to be useful.

Motivation to Blog Regularly

Try to make your motivators as the same as your long time goals. For example: If you secondary motivator is to be a better writer, then make it as your blog (focus on achieving your goal).

Take Challenges & Do the Unusual

What is your writing style? How do you write? Do you plan? Or do you write like me (no planning)? If you write with planning, then try writing without any planning. If you don’t plan, then try writing with planning.

How many posts do you write per week? 1-2? 3-5? Or more? Well, if you usually write 1-2 articles per week, then try to write more articles for this week (Take a challenge). And try to achieve your goal. It will help you to increase your motivation and confidence with blogging.

Or if you write 3-5 articles, then try writing lesser articles. Do a lot more marketing, networking and commenting (do something that is related to blogging).

Or you could do something bigger. Take your challenges to a new level. Let your readers and friends know about the challenge. Encourage and ask them to join the challenge. At the end of the challenge, you can write a post about your difficulties and your experience taking the challenge (this would greatly help your readers 😀 ).

Write in different styles. Try blogging beyond your usual routine.

Try something different. Because that’s what makes life interesting. Same thing applies to blogging. When you do things differently in different ways (Experimentation), you will be able to keep blogging interesting (and this blog regularly).
